Awantipora, September 25: Police in Awantipora has taken prompt action in a case involving alleged sexual harassment of a minor girl in the Aripal area of Tral and arrested the accused.
A Police spokesperson said that On 24/09/2026, a written complaint was lodged at Police Post Aripal alleging sexual harassment of a 15-year-old girl (name withheld) by Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Gh. Nabi Lone, resident of Darganigund, posted as Physical Education Teacher (PET) at Government High School (GHS), Lam, Aripal.
Accordingly, FIR No. 107/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tral, and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation, a police team led by Incharge Police Post Aripal, initiated necessary legal proceedings. Through technical and human intelligence, the involvement of the said accused was established, following which he was apprehended and subsequently arrested. Further investigation is underway.
