Sopore : Police on Thursday said that it has apprehended a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substances from his possession.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, Police said that during naka checking at Super Bazar Crossing near Shah Dargah, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Sopore, a suspect was intercepted. During checking, psychotropic substance was recovered from his possession and seized in accordance with due legal procedure. The accused has been identified as Ansab Altaf Najar @ Ansar S/O Altaf Hussain Najar R/O Batpora, Sopore.
A case under FIR No. 241/2026 under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and possible wider linkages. In its statement police reiterated its commitment to zero-tolerance against drug trafficking and sustained action against drug peddlers to safeguard youth and society from the menace of drugs.
