Special Prayers, Relic Display Mark Observance
Srinagar | September, 24: Thousands of devotees thronged the historic Dastgeer Sahib shrine at Khanyar on Thursday as the annual Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA), popularly known as Ghaus-ul-Azam, was observed with religious fervour across Kashmir.
The display of holy relics at the shrine drew large crowds, with devotees arriving from across the Valley to offer prayers, seek blessings, and participate in religious observances. Shrine premises remained packed throughout the day for special prayers, Qur’an recitations, and zikr gatherings, sources said.
“Every year, we come here to offer prayers and be part of the Urs. Seeing so many devotees gathered here makes the occasion even more meaningful,” said Suhaib Ahmad, a devotee from Habba Kadal. Another devotee, Firdous Jan from Budgam, added, “People come here with faith and devotion. It is always special to be part of this gathering.”
Elaborate administrative and security arrangements were put in place around the shrine and adjoining areas to facilitate smooth movement and assist the gathering of devotees.
