Srinagar : Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy chaired a high-level Crime and Security Review Meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess the prevailing security scenario, operational preparedness, and the disposal of pending cases.
The review aimed to evaluate the status of cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and other social offenses across the district.
The session was attended by Zonal Superintendents of Police, SP Headquarters, DySP Headquarters, Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Station House Officers (SHOs), and other senior officers of Srinagar District Police. Detailed discussions were held to enhance investigation quality and prosecution standards to improve conviction rates in general crimes, POCSO, and offenses against women. SSP Srinagar conducted a performance audit across all operational units, emphasizing the rapid clearance of backlog cases and the robust implementation of the Nyaya Sanhita.
Addressing the officers, the SSP directed intensified action against drug trafficking, ordering the systematic dismantling of NDPS hotspots, mapping forward and backward linkages in narcotics and terror-funding cases, and initiating financial investigations to freeze bank accounts and attach properties derived from illegal proceeds. Evaluating the security grid, he instructed field formations to strengthen counter-insurgency operations, intensify area domination exercises, and increase checkpoint (naka) checking at vulnerable locations and inter-district borders to safeguard public order.
