Baramulla | September 21: In a statement issued here on Monday, Police said that Police in Baramulla, Shopian, and Ganderbal districts took decisive action against 20 vehicles involved in unauthorized mining activities.
In Baramulla, Police Post Mirgund seized a tipper (JK05B-8719) carrying illegal boulders, while Police Post Wussan seized a tipper (JK03L-4402) carrying illegal soil, initiating legal action under the MMDR Act. In Shopian, Police Post Berthipora intercepted four dumpers transporting minerals without valid royalty documents, registering FIR No. 98/2026 at Police Station Keller. In Ganderbal, Police seized 14 vehicles (11 tippers and 3 tractors) carrying minor minerals without authorization, handing the matter over to the Geology & Mining Department for the imposition of requisite fines.
