Srinagar : Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President J&K National Conference on Friday reiterated his party’s commitment to ideals of its founder later Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, particularly in promoting political, social, and administrative representation across all regions and societal segments.
During a meeting with party officials from Samba Dr. Abdullah highlighted the transformative impact of land reforms initiated by late Sheikh Abdullah, which empowered many economically disadvantaged individuals in Jammu, Ladakh, and Kashmir by granting them ownership rights and fostering self-reliance. Dr. Abdullah also discussed organizational matters and challenges faced by local communities. He noted that while Jammu has seen development, the progress has been hindered since the BJP’s rise to power, which he criticized for prioritizing religious divisions over public welfare and development. He pointed out that the BJP’s policies have adversely affected both Kashmir and Jammu, particularly in government employment opportunities, which have been opened to candidates nationwide. Dr. Abdullah also mentioned the discontinuation of the Darbar Move by the BJP, a practice he regarded as essential for Jammu’s economy, which was restored by the National Conference under Omar Abdullah’s leadership. He urged party members to strengthen National Conference, promote unity, and remain engaged with the public to address their grievances effectively.
