M4 Carbine, AK-47, Pistol And Grenades Recovered
Udhampur | September, 17: Two Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists were killed and a suspected over-ground worker was detained during a joint intelligence-based counter-terrorism operation in the Brattal area of Udhampur district on Thursday.
Reports said that Security forces launched ‘Operation Sohan’ jointly involving the Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the Brattal-Sohan and Khubban areas of Majalta amid heavy rainfall, difficult mountainous terrain, and poor visibility. Forces had been tracking the movement of a suspected terrorist group in the dense forest belt for several days, cordoning off the area around 9 PM on Wednesday before establishing contact. Intermittent firing and explosions continued through the night, resuming heavily on Thursday morning when the trapped terrorists attempted to break the security cordon.
Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed the operational details, posting: “You can run but you can’t hide!” “The two Pakistani terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit have been neutralised during Op Sohan and identified as Saddam and Mustafa,” officials added. “An AK Assault Rifle (with 4 magazines); M4 Carbine (with 3 magazines); a Glock Pistol (with 2 magazines) and four grenades have been recovered from them,” the statement further noted. Security forces subsequently retrieved both bodies from the thick vegetation. Meanwhile, a local youth suspected of acting as an over-ground worker was detained for questioning. The White Knight Corps highlighted that despite hostile weather and steep terrain, joint forces successfully eliminated the threat, confirming that search and surveillance operations remain underway in the surrounding forests to rule out any remaining presence.
