Uri : The Regional-cum-Facilitation Centre, Northern Region-II (RCFC NR-II), National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of AYUSH, SKUAST-Kashmir, organised a series of pre-programme activities at Government Degree College Uri, Baramulla, ahead of the 11th Ayurveda Day celebrations scheduled for September 22 and 23 under the theme “Ayurveda for Healthier Tomorrow.”
The programme focused on promoting medicinal plants, their conservation, sustainable cultivation and utilisation, while creating awareness about their significance in Ayurveda.
Dr. Sofi Imtiyaz Ali, Project Manager, RCFC NR-II, conducted an awareness session on “Sustainable Cultivation and Harvesting of Medicinal Plants.” He highlighted the need to preserve traditional Ayurvedic knowledge while strengthening its application through evidence-based, safe and holistic healthcare practices.
As part of the activities, a Green Ayurveda Plantation Drive and Herbal Garden Open Day were also organised on the college campus, encouraging students and faculty members to contribute towards conservation of plant diversity and sustainable utilisation of medicinal plants.
The programme concluded with a call to carry forward the vision of “Ayurveda for Healthier Tomorrow” through greater awareness, conservation and sustainable use of medicinal plants.
The programme witnessed active participation of students and faculty members of Government Degree College Uri, along with the technical team of RCFC NR-II.
