Project to showcase tribal culture, create livelihood opportunities, strengthen Poonch’s tourism potential

Srinagar, Sept. 17:The Government of Jammu & Kashmir, led by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has accorded administrative approval for the development of a state-of-the-art Tribal Tourism Village at Behri Qasab in Mendhar area of Poonch district.
The project, sanctioned at a cost of ₹10.22 crore under the Capex Budget 2026-27, aims to showcase the rich tribal culture and heritage of the region while strengthening local infrastructure and creating new economic opportunities for local youth.
The Tribal Tourism Village is envisaged as a dedicated destination that will highlight the distinctive cultural traditions and way of life of the tribal communities, while providing an added attraction for visitors to Poonch.
