B’gam | September, 16: In a heartbreaking turn of events, an elderly man collapsed and died at a graveyard in Budgam on Wednesday while performing funeral rites for his son and three-year-old grandson, who had died in a road accident four days earlier. Witnesses said Ghulam Hassan Mir (62), a resident of Ghoom Ahmadpora, Magam, collapsed suddenly during the afternoon rites. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
The tragedy comes shortly after Mir’s son, Naseer Ahmad Mir (29), and grandson, Hadi Ali (3), lost their lives in a tragic crash at Soibugh on September 12, which also left Naseer’s wife critically injured. The successive deaths within days have left the entire local community in deep shock and grief.
