Conservator East Circle Jammu reviews forest protection, field management activities in Kathua Forest Division

Kathua : Conservator Forests, East Circle, J&K Pradeep Chandra P. Wahule undertook a field visit of Kathua Forest Division.

The Conservator of Forests was accompanied by ACF Anusha Kolli, Deputy Director, FPF, J-III, Tehsildar & SHO of Hiranagar and concerned Range Forest Officers along with field staff.

During the field inspection, the field staff briefed the Conservator of Forests regarding the prevailing ground situation, vulnerable areas, protection arrangements and the measures being undertaken to safeguard forest resources.

Highlight of the visit was to ChannCharakhri closure, where the recent firing upon forest officials occurred. The Conservator of Forests congratulated field staff for showing exemplary bravery in curbing Forest Offences. He also cautioned staff to be vigilant regarding personal security. The timely coordination from the Police was appreciated.

The Conservator of Forests further inspected Boundary Pillars installed in Janglote&RakhJalphar forests. He visited forest check posts at Lakhanpur, BasohliMorh to understand the practical difficulties faced by staff in curbing forest offences – especially Timber smuggling across state borders. He also emphasized close coordination with the FPF, Police & Revenue Departments for effective enforcement of laws.
