Udhampur | September, 15: A Village Defence Guard (VDG) member sustained an abdominal gunshot wound after his service rifle accidentally went off in the Majalta area of Udhampur district on Tuesday.
Sources said the injured guard, identified as Parshotam Lal of Chore Panjian, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Local authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accidental discharge.
