Srinagar | September, 15: The Union Ministry of Water Resources has conveyed to the Jammu & Kashmir administration that any savings accrued under flood management projects must strictly be utilized for already approved components rather than directed toward new or unapproved works.
According to official records of a review meeting, the J&K government had requested permission to utilize accumulated savings for bank protection works across specific areas. However, representatives of the Union Ministry clarified that project savings can only be repurposed for components previously cleared by the Ministry’s Advisory Committee.
The meeting, chaired by the Commissioner (Flood Management), brought together key officials from the Central Water Commission alongside representatives from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to evaluate ongoing flood management infrastructure.
