4 drug peddlers arrested in Baramullam Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Baramulla : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers across Baramulla, Bandipora, and Awantipora and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said that in Baramulla, a police team at a checkpoint in Devar apprehended Syed Ahmad Shah, R/O Devar. During personal search approximately 2 grams of a heroin-like substance, a mobile phone, and ₹4,000 in cash were recovered from their possession. A case under FIR No. 214/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pattan.

In Bandipora Police intercepted a scooty (JK15C-5452) at Shok Baba Sumlar and seized 1.150 kg of Charas. The rider, Haris Fayaz of T.A. Shah, was arrested, and the vehicle was seized under FIR No. 148/2026 at Police Station Bandipora. In a separate action at Sangri Top, Aloosa Police apprehended Umar Lateef Ganie of Sopore and recovered 53 grams of Charas. A case under FIR No. 149/2026 was registered at Police Station Bandipora.

In Awantipora, police intercepted an auto-rickshaw (JK13D-8919) driven by Maqsood Ahmad Lone of Chak Noorpora at Punzoo Shaldraman, recovering 1.50 kg of poppy straw. He was arrested, the vehicle was seized, and FIR No. 104/2026 was registered at Police Station Tral.
