September 13: Police in Budgam have achieved a significant breakthrough in the investigation of FIR No. 231/2026, registered at Police Station Budgam regarding theft of gold ornaments, cash and other valuables from a residential house at Housing Colony Ompora.
During investigation, the police team, along with DMFU Budgam, conducted forensic examination of the scene of crime, while CCTV footage, tower dump data, witness statements and CDR analysis were meticulously examined. A red-coloured three-wheeler load carrier bearing registration No. JK01AX-8025 was identified as a suspected vehicle in the vicinity of the crime scene.
Based on the investigation, two accused persons, identified as Danish Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmad Dar and Azhar Rashid Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar, both residents of Shah Colony, Parimpora, Srinagar, were identified and arrested. The suspected vehicle was also seized.
During subsequent recovery proceedings, stolen property including a gold ring weighing approximately 3 grams, ₹47,000 cash and another three-wheeler load carrier bearing registration No. JK01AV-1599 was recovered. The stolen gold was traced to its alleged disposal through persons associated with gold-testing/jewellery businesses in Srinagar. ₹9 lakh cash was subsequently produced before Police Station Budgam and seized as per law.
Further, ₹2.70 lakh has been frozen in bank accounts of the accused persons, with the financial trail being examined to trace the complete proceeds arising from disposal of the stolen property.
During the recovery proceedings, police also recovered a digital weighing machine and 4.32 grams of brown sugar-like suspected contraband substance. Accordingly, NDPS provisions were added to the case and further investigation is underway.
So far, the investigation has resulted in recovery/seizure of ₹9.47 lakh cash, one stolen gold ring weighing approximately 3 grams, 4.32 grams of suspected contraband, one metal box, one digital weighing machine and two three-wheeler load carriers bearing registration Nos. JK01AX-8025 and JK01AV-1599.
Further investigation is in progress to trace the complete proceeds of crime, scrutinize financial transactions and identify all persons connected with the offence. J&K Police remain committed to ensuring a thorough investigation and bringing all persons involved in the crime to justice in accordance with law.
