3 Drug Peddlers Arrested In South Kashmir Distts, Contraband Substances Recovered: Police

Srinagar| September 12: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Police said that in Kulgam, during a naka checking at Lassipora Crossing within the jurisdiction of Police Post Mir Bazar a police party saw a suspect traveling from Sakhloo towards Khrewan in a suspicious manner following which the suspect attempted to flee but was chased down and apprehended. One polythene packet containing approximately 171 grams of a Charas-like substance was seized from the possession of the suspect. The individual was identified as Mudasir Khursheed Laigroo S/O Khursheed Ahmad Laigroo, R/O Sherpora, Anantnag. Failing to provide a satisfactory explanation for the possession, a case was registered at Police Station Qazigund under relevant provisions of the law, with further investigation underway to trace the source and destination of the substance.
In Anantnag, a police party from Police Station Anantnag apprehended a drug peddler near the Sports Stadium during routine checking. Identified as Ajaz Ahmad Malik, son of Dilwar Malik, resident of Old Qazibagh, Mattan Chowk, Anantnag, he was found in possession of 3.15 grams of heroin and 4.44 grams of charas. Case under FIR No. 301/2026 under Sections 8/20 and 21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag.
In Pulwama, police apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking at Circular Road near Sirnoo Crossing. The suspect was found carrying approximately 6 grams of a heroin-like substance along with ₹5,000 in cash. He was identified as Ateef Bashir, S/O Bashir Ahmad Lone, R/O Babademb, Khanyar, currently residing at Pirbagh, Srinagar. Case under FIR No. 183/2026 under relevant NDPS Act provisions was registered at Police Station Pulwama. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to combatdrug trafficking and appealed pepple to report illegal narcotic activities.
