Gurez, | Sept. 11: The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gurez, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, has issued show-cause notices to 10 doctors after they were allegedly found absent from duty during a surprise inspection conducted by MLA Gurez, Nazir Gurezi and SDM Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad on September 10.
During the inspection, the doctors were reportedly found absent from their assigned duties without authorisation. According to the notice, the officials were found “unauthorisedly absent from duty” and were also described as allegedly habitual in remaining absent and such absence amounted to dereliction of duty and could cause inconvenience to the public and affect patient care.
The doctors have been asked to submit their written explanations within two days and explain why disciplinary action should not be initiated against them under the relevant service rules. Show-cause notices were issued to 10 doctors, namely, Dr Ab Hameed (Consultant), Dr Syed Tufail (Consultant), Dr Saleem Javid (Medical Officer), Dr Bilal Ahmad (Medical Officer), Dr Hilal Ahmad (Medical Officer), Dr Amin Jagoo (Medical Officer), Dr Imtiyaz (Medical Officer), Dr Farooq (Medical Officer), Dr Lateef (Medical Officer), and Dr Tufail (Medical Officer), for allegedly remaining unauthorisedly absent from duty.
The SDM has also forwarded the communication to the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Chief Medical Officer Bandipora and Block Medical Officer Gurez for information and necessary action.
The BMO Gurez has been directed not to prepare the salary bills of the doctors concerned until further orders. The Treasury Officer Gurez has also been instructed not to process or entertain their salary bills.
The action Is expected to strengthen attendance monitoring and accountability among healthcare staff in the remote Gurez subdivision.
