Police, locals launch rescue operation after vehicle enters water channel; circumstances under investigation
Ganderbal, Sept 11: A reported vehicle stunt attempt turned risky near Sonamarg in Ganderbal district on Friday after a Scorpio vehicle entered the Nallah Sindh and became stranded in the water channel, prompting an immediate rescue operation by police and local residents.
According to preliminary reports, a group of youths was allegedly attempting to perform stunts with the vehicle when the Scorpio entered the nallah and got stuck in the water. The incident prompted concern over the safety of those involved, given the strong and unpredictable currents in the channel.
Soon after receiving information, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Sonamarg, accompanied by a team of police personnel, reached the spot and joined the rescue efforts. Local residents also assisted the police in attempting to retrieve the stranded vehicle.
The rescue operation was underway at the time of filing this report.
Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident and will take appropriate action if any violation or negligence is established during the inquiry.
