Jammu|Sept, 10: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Thursday visited a joint temporary operating base manned by the Special Operations Group (SOG), Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and CRPF at the Doda-Kathua-Udhampur trijunction, officials said.
Prabhat was accompanied by Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Tejinder Singh; DIG Doda-Ramban-Kishtwar Range Sargun Shukla; DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Shiv Kumar Sharma; and SSP Doda Kartik Shrotriya.
During the visit, the DGP was briefed on the operational readiness of the security personnel and the prevailing security situation in the district, officials said.
The visit comes amid intensified security operations in parts of the Jammu region following reports of suspicious armed movement in Billawar area of Kathua district.
Security forces have launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area after local residents reportedly spotted suspicious armed men, officials said.
The operation is being carried out by the SOG of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, they said.
The joint deployment at the trijunction is part of security arrangements in the area, with forces maintaining operational preparedness amid the heightened alert.
