Srinagar | September, 09: Three houses were damaged in a midnight blaze that broke out in Khan Mohalla, Gurwait area of Budgam district, leaving six families homeless. Officials said the fire spread rapidly and engulfed the residential structures within a short span of time. Although local residents attempted to douse the flames and Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded promptly, the blaze caused extensive damage to property and household belongings.
Following the incident, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Khansahib, Shri Jahangir Ahmad Giri, visited the spot to review the losses and interact with the affected victims. Witnesses said the administration distributed relief kits and blankets as an immediate measure. Expressing solidarity, the SDM assured the families of all possible assistance under prescribed government rules. The cause of the fire and the exact extent of property loss are currently being assessed.
