Srinagar, Sept 10: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has tightened regulations governing vehicle entry and parking at and around the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar ahead of the upcoming session of the Union Territory’s Legislative Assembly.
The General Administration Department (GAD), through Circular No. 19-JK(GAD) of 2026 issued on Thursday, directed all concerned to strictly comply with the new arrangements aimed at regulating vehicular movement during the Assembly session.
Under the guidelines, vehicles belonging to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, ministers, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Speaker and legislators will be parked at designated spaces within the Assembly Complex, Srinagar.
The administration has prohibited private vehicles belonging to employees of the Civil Secretariat and Legislative Assembly, including police personnel deployed for security, from entering the Civil Secretariat premises.
Vehicles authorised for accredited media persons will, however, be permitted to enter the Civil Secretariat after undergoing the requisite security checks.
The circular also directed that all escort vehicles be parked at the available parking space at Kashmir Haat (Exhibition Complex).
All officers and officials working in the Civil Secretariat have been asked to extend support and cooperation to the Senior Superintendent of Police (Security), Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, for regulating vehicle movement and parking during the Assembly session.
The GAD has further directed all Administrative Secretaries to bring the instructions to the notice of employees working in their respective departments and ensure strict compliance.
