Director FCS & CA Kashmir reviews functioning of Department in Anantnag

Anantnag | Sept, 9:Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA), Kashmir, Nazim Zai Khan, undertook a comprehensive tour of District Anantnag to review and oversee the functioning of the department.
The Director was accompanied by Malik Muzaffar, Assistant Director, FCS & CA, Anantnag, along with Tehsil Supply Officers (TSOs) and other officials of the department.
During the tour, the Director visited PEG-II, Shumhal, where he took stock of the status of lifting operations and the available storage capacity.
The Director subsequently convened a review meeting with the Assistant Director, FCS & CA, Anantnag, all Tehsil Supply Officers, office staff and other officials of the department. The meeting focused on the overall functioning of the department, distribution of food grains, developmental works being undertaken under the CAPEX budget, and expenditure incurred under various heads.
The Director directed the concerned officers to expedite the execution of developmental works under the CAPEX budget and ensure timely utilization of the allocated funds. He also called upon the Tehsil Supply Officers to work with zeal and zest and maintain accountability and transparency in the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA), ensuring that the intended benefits reach all eligible beneficiaries at the grassroots level.
The functioning of the district’s granaries (GDs) was also reviewed during the meeting. The Director directed the Assistant Director to submit a detailed proposal regarding the mapping of Sale Centres/Fair Price Shops (FPSs) with the available Granaries ( GDs) and the requirement of manpower for the granaries(GDs) , with the objective of making them fully functional and establishing an efficient and smart supply-chain management system.
The Tehsil Supply Officers were further directed to undertake thorough verification of beneficiaries to ensure that only genuine and eligible beneficiaries avail the benefits of various departmental schemes under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
Director also visited the Railway Head to inspect the lifting of food grains from the railway head to the PEG II. He interacted with officials of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and discussed the supply-chain management of food grains transported through railways and their subsequent distribution to the department’s sale outlets.
The FCI officials briefed the Director about the detailed procedure involved in the lifting, unloading and dispatch of food grains. The Director stressed the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and ensuring the quality of food grains during unloading, storage and subsequent dispatch to the sale outlets.
Meanwhile, Director expressed satisfaction over the overall progress and functioning of the FCS & CA Department in District Anantnag and directed the officers to continue working with dedication, transparency and accountability for effective implementation of the Public Distribution System.
