Baramulla | September 09: Police on Wednesday said that Baramulla Police has seized six vehicles involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of mining materials across various parts of the district.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that during early morning patrolling, two tippers (JK01AH-5359 and JK09B-0611) were intercepted while transporting sand and minerals without valid documents and were immediately seized under the MMDR Act in coordination with Mining Department officials. In another operation at DPS Crossing, a tipper (JK01P-1074) carrying sand without valid royalty documents was intercepted and referred to the Geology & Mining Department.
Additionally, three more vehicles—two tractors (JK16B-4217 and 349846DX) and one JCB (H00D48278)—were intercepted while illegally transporting sand. All three were taken into custody by the Mining Department for legal action. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to protect natural resources and appealed people to report unlawful mining activities.
