Srinagar | September, 8: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday cancelled its previous order posting a Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officer to the Assembly Secretariat. The General Administration Department (GAD) issued a fresh directive revoking Government Order No. 1415-JK(GAD) of 2026 dated August 19, which had transferred Bilal Ahmad Mir, Sub-Registrar Khansahib/Budgam, as Deputy Secretary in the Legislative Assembly, declaring it cancelled ab initio.
The directive further ordered that Jahangir Ahmed, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Khansahib, will hold the charge of Sub-Registrar Khansahib and Sub-Registrar Budgam in addition to his own duties until further notice. Reports said the initial posting of the officer had sparked widespread protests from Assembly staff and legislators, prompting the Assembly Secretariat to formally request the GAD to withdraw the transfer order.
