Rajouri | September, 8: A newborn baby died following a delivery in a private setting in Rajouri after a pregnant woman admitted to Government Medical College and Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) allegedly left her ward during treatment. Hospital authorities declared her “Left Against Medical Advice” (LAMA) when she went missing during rounds, but she returned the following evening in critical condition with severe bleeding and was placed in the ICU.
Medical Superintendent GMC&AH Rajouri, Dr Shamim Ahmed Choudhary, stated, “She was actively managed by the doctors and shifted to the ICU. Her condition is presently stable and she is under observation.” He added, “A committee has been constituted and an inquiry has been ordered. The committee will submit its report within two days. After that, the facts will be placed before the authorities and whatever action is required will be taken.” Officials said a hospital employee has been suspended pending the inquiry, while police have initiated an investigation into the private facility where the delivery occurred.
