Awantipora : Police on Monday said that it has solved a major theft case in Awantipora.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that following a complaint received on June 28 regarding the theft of gold ornaments worth approximately ₹12 lakh from the residence of Muzzafar Ahmad Mohand S/O Late Gh Ahmad R/O Sheerabad Bulli, Tral a case under FIR No. 80/2026 was registered at Police Station Tral and investigation was taken up.
During the course of the investigation, all available evidence, including technical inputs, was meticulously analysed. After sustained investigative efforts by the police team two accused were arrested and identified as Sajad Ahmad Mochi, S/O Noor Mohammad, R/O Larkipora Padgampora (presently residing at Shaheed Park, Pulwama), and Amir Rashid Ganaie, S/O Abdul Rashid Ganaie, R/O Khulbagh Batagund.
Police in its statement further said that on the disclosure of the said accused stolen gold ornaments worth approximately ₹4 lakh have been recovered so far. Further investigation is underway, and additional recoveries as well as arrests are expected. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to safeguard the lives and property of citizens and deal firmly with criminal activities, appealing people therein to remain vigilant and extend full cooperation.
