Srinagar : Kia India has launched its global SUV nameplate Sorento in India, marking the automaker’s entry into the premium three-row SUV segment, with introductory prices starting at ₹27.99 lakh for the diesel and ₹29.49 lakh for the hybrid (ex-showroom).

The Sorento also marks Kia’s first hybrid offering in India and introduces the global debut of the company’s Kia AI Assistant with real-time generative AI capabilities in the India-spec model.

Official deliveries of the SUV began nationwide on September 4.

Available in six- and seven-seater configurations, the Sorento combines premium cabin features, advanced safety technologies and two powertrain options. Kia said the Sorento is the first SUV in its segment to offer a hybrid powertrain with all-wheel drive (AWD).

The SUV measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and has a 2,815 mm wheelbase. It features Kia’s Digital Tiger Face, Crystal Cube LED projection headlamps, Star Map LED DRLs and LED tail lamps, along with 18- and 19-inch alloy wheel options.

Inside, the Sorento offers powered and ventilated seats, captain seats in the six-seater version, rear-row comfort features and multiple charging and convenience options. Kia has also introduced segment-first features including a Digital IRVM, Smart Dashcam with front and rear cameras, Remote Smart Parking Assist, 220V power outlet and windshield Head-Up Display.

For safety, the SUV comes with Level 2+ ADAS featuring 30 autonomous functions, including Highway Driving Assist, Smart Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist and Safe Exit Warning. It also gets a 26-feature standard safety package and up to seven airbags, depending on the variant.

The Sorento is built on Kia’s global N3 platform, with the India-spec model receiving enhancements aimed at local road conditions and customer requirements, including an acoustic windshield and additional cabin insulation.

Kia said the Sorento has sold more than 4.8 million units across 132 countries over four generations. The SUV will be available in three base trims with option packs, across diesel and hybrid powertrains, and in eight exterior colour options.

Kia India Managing Director and CEO Gwanggu Lee said the launch marks a significant milestone for the company, with the Sorento bringing its first hybrid technology in India and the global debut of the Kia AI Assistant with real-time generative AI capabilities.
