Ganderbal, Sept 7: The bodies of two teenagers, a boy and a girl, were recovered from a power canal in Thune area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday, officials said.
The boy was identified as Irshad Ahmad Kahi, son of Mohammad Sharif Kahi, a resident of Thune. The identity of the girl has been withheld.
According to officials, the two were reportedly seen entering the power canal earlier in the day, following which a search operation was launched by police and rescue personnel.
After an extensive search, both bodies were recovered from the canal and shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
The circumstances leading to the incident were not immediately clear. Police have initiated proceedings and are investigating the matter.
