Srinagar|Sept, 5: Kashmir’s higher reaches received the season’s first snowfall on Saturday, with fresh snow reported from Gulmarg, KaobalGali in Bandipora’s Tulail area and the Gumri-Zojila sector along the Sonamarg-Zojila axis.
The higher reaches of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district recorded fresh snowfall, including Sunshine Peak and other upper areas. Snowfall was also reported from Tatakooti Peak and other high-altitude areas of the PirPanjal range.
In Bandipora district, KaobalGali in the Tulail area received fresh snowfall, covering the surrounding mountain slopes with a layer of snow.
Fresh snowfall was also reported from Gumri and Zojila in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. Zojila, a high-altitude pass connecting the Kashmir Valley with Ladakh, is a key link on the Srinagar-Leh route.
The snowfall marks the first visible onset of winter-like conditions in Kashmir’s higher reaches, with temperatures beginning to drop across the high-altitude areas ahead of the colder months.
