- Says “Slain was affiliated with LeT; AK-series rifle, war-like stores recovered”

Srinagar|Sept, 5: The terrorist killed in an encounter in Budgam’s Ashdar Gali has been identified as Yasir, a Pakistani national affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Saturday.
The police confirmed the identity in a post on X, saying, “You Can Run But You Can’t Hide!”
Yasir was killed during Operation Ashdar, a joint search operation involving the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF, launched following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
According to the Army, security forces detected suspicious movement during the operation and challenged the suspected terrorists. The militants responded with gunfire, triggering an exchange of fire in which one terrorist was killed.
An AK-series rifle along with other war-like stores was recovered from the encounter site, the Army said.
The operation, which began on Thursday, continued with extensive searches in the surrounding areas following the encounter as security forces worked to rule out the presence of any other militants.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar, had visited the operation site on Friday and reviewed the security situation and progress of the ongoing search operation.
The identification of Yasir as a Pakistani national and LeT affiliate comes as security forces continue intensified counter-terror operations in the region based on intelligence inputs.
