Ganderbal : The Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) commemorated Teachers’ Day through an online event organized by the School of Education, highlighting the essential role of teachers in shaping responsible and socially aware citizens.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, in his address, extended greetings from the Chancellor and emphasized the need to recognize both formal and informal educators, including parents and society. He advocated for a shift in higher education from mere knowledge dissemination to fostering wisdom and societal contribution, urging teachers to adopt multidisciplinary approaches, innovation, and collaboration with industry. Dr. Kerron G. Reddy, the keynote speaker and COO of AIMST University, underscored the pivotal role of teachers as “nation builders,” stressing that their commitment and passion are crucial for guiding students in their career paths. She noted that the rise of artificial intelligence has not diminished the significance of teachers but has instead heightened their responsibilities, necessitating continuous knowledge updates and engaging pedagogical methods. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of personal connections with students, suggesting that simple gestures can have a profound impact. Prof. Shahid Rasool, Dean of Academic Affairs, highlighted the evolving role of teachers in higher education, pointing out that the traditional model of teachers as the sole knowledge authority is transforming due to the influence of digital natives and artificial intelligence. This shift calls for a reevaluation of teaching methods and the relationship between educators and students in the modern educational landscape.
