Anantnag | Sep, 02: A tourist was killed on Wednesday after a massive boulder rolled down a hillside and struck a moving vehicle on the Khanbal-Pahalgam Road near the Bumzoo shrine in the Mattan area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Officials said the Innova vehicle was carrying six tourists from Pahalgam towards Anantnag when the sudden landslip occurred. Reports said while five other tourists and the driver escaped unharmed, one passenger sustained critical injuries. The victim was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police identified the deceased as R Himansu Prasad Rao, a resident of Ganjam, Odisha, and confirmed that formal legal proceedings have been initiated.
