Party to take formal decision on joining Omar Abdullah-led govt tomorrow
Srinagar: The ruling National Conference (NC) has approached the Congress with a fresh offer to join the Omar Abdullah-led Jammu and Kashmir government ahead of the proposed expansion of the council of ministers, state Congress president Tariq Hameed Karra said on Wednesday.
Karra confirmed to KNS that the NC had reached out to the Congress and offered the party a berth in the council of ministers.
“We have been approached by the National Conference. The matter is under consideration and the party will announce its decision tomorrow,” Karra said.
The development comes amid Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s plans to expand and reshuffle his council of ministers.
Sources said the NC conveyed to the Congress that it could join the government if it was willing to reconsider its earlier position on joining the ministerial team.
