New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday extended greetings to people on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, conveying wishes of peace, happiness, prosperity, good health and communal harmony.

In a post on social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi said, “Eid Milad-un-Nabi Mubarak. Wishing everyone peace, happiness, prosperity and good health.”

Kharge, in a separate message, said the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad continued to offer humanity enduring lessons in compassion, peace and justice.

“On the sacred occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, I extend my warm greetings to everyone. The life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h remind us of the enduring values of compassion, peace and justice for humanity,” Kharge added.

The Congress president said the occasion should reinforce the bonds of brotherhood and encourage people to work towards building a society based on mutual respect and communal harmony.

“May this occasion strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and inspire us to build a society founded on mutual respect and communal harmony that binds our diverse nation together,” he said.

Extending Eid greetings to people across the country, Kharge said, “Eid Mubarak to all.”

The greetings from the two senior Congress leaders came as Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, also known as Milad-un-Nabi, was being observed by Muslims in India and across the world. The occasion commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad and is marked by prayers, religious gatherings, processions and reflections on his teachings.

The teachings associated with the Prophet emphasise compassion, peace, justice, brotherhood and service to humanity. The occasion also provides an opportunity for people and public representatives to reiterate the importance of harmony and mutual respect in a country known for its religious and cultural diversity.

While Rahul Gandhi conveyed his wishes for peace, happiness, prosperity and good health, Kharge underlined the broader message of compassion, justice and brotherhood, saying these values could help further strengthen the bonds of unity and communal harmony in India’s diverse society.
