Ganderbal, Aug 26: Fear gripped residents of Manigam village in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district after a leopard was reportedly spotted roaming through the Durpora Mohalla area on Wednesday, prompting police to seek immediate intervention from the Wildlife Department.
According to a communication from Police Station Lar, the movement of the wild animal was reported by a reliable source within the police station’s jurisdiction.
The reported sighting sparked concern among residents, particularly those living in and around Durpora Mohalla, with locals apprehending that the animal could enter residential areas and endanger people.
Following the report, police requested the Wildlife Department to urgently deploy a specialised team equipped with the necessary equipment to track and safely capture the leopard.
Residents have urged authorities to launch a swift operation and ensure adequate precautionary measures are put in place to prevent any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, locals have been advised to remain vigilant, avoid isolated areas and refrain from venturing into vulnerable locations until the animal is safely captured.
