Sopore : The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), in partnership with Daira-e-Adab Delina, hosted a symposium at Government Degree College Sopore to commemorate the 26th death anniversary of the esteemed poet and writer Nishat Ansari.
The event gathered a diverse audience, including writers, poets, academicians, and students, to celebrate Ansari’s significant literary contributions and his impact on Kashmiri culture. The symposium commenced with a session led by FayazTelgami, featuring Shahnaz Rashid as the Chief Guest and Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad as the Guest of Honour. Javed Iqbal Khan emphasized the importance of ongoing research into Kashmiri literary figures, while Rashid underscored the necessity of preserving the region’s literary heritage. The keynote address by Shahid Delnavi explored various facets of Ansari’s literary persona, complemented by a research paper from Shaukat Shan that examined his contributions within Kashmir’s socio-cultural framework. The presidium members collectively honored Ansari’s legacy, with Telgami advocating for the continued engagement with his works. The second session focused on a poetry recital, presided over by Shabir Ahmad Shabir, with Abdul Khaliq Shams and Rashid Kansapori as distinguished guests. The recital featured performances from several poets who celebrated Ansari’s literary stature and called for the promotion of Kashmiri language and traditions among youth. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Zameer Ansari, acknowledging the contributions of all participants and the support from the college administration. Overall, the symposium served as a meaningful tribute to Nishat Ansari, emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting his literary legacy for future generations.
