Hot, Humid Weather To Persist In J&K,Brief Rain Spells Likely Until Sept 5: MeT Office

Temperatures stay above normal across both divisions, with Kashmir MeT warning of potential flash floods and landslides.
Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir is set to experience hot and humid weather over the coming days, accompanied by brief spells of rain and thundershowers at scattered locations.
According to the latest Meteorological Centre forecast, early morning and afternoon rain spells are likely between August 25 and 28, with weather activity expected to increase from August 29 to 31 as light to moderate rainfall hits many areas. A similar pattern will continue through September 5, though precipitation will remain isolated toward the tail end.
Cautioning residents in vulnerable areas against potential flash floods, mudslides, and landslides from sudden intense showers, the MeT advised that regular agricultural operations and harvesting can continue. Meanwhile, day temperatures remained largely above normal. Srinagar recorded a maximum of 30.5°C (1.2°C above normal) and a minimum of 16.4°C. Qazigund registered 29.8°C, Pahalgam 25°C, Kupwara 30.2°C, Kokernag 28.4°C, and Gulmarg a cooler 21°C. In Jammu, maximum temperatures reached 34.3°C, while Katra and Banihal recorded 32.5°C and 29.5°C, respectively.
