SSP Traffic Rural directed to inspect official car, submit compliance report within two weeks.
Srinagar : The Special Mobile Magistrate (Traffic), Kashmir Province, Srinagar, has ordered the SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir to physically inspect the official vehicle of Tehsildar Sopore Tariq Ahmad Shiekh following allegations of illegal beacon and siren usage.
The order follows an application filed by applicant Muzaffar Ahmad, who submitted video evidence and screenshots alleging that the official’s vehicle carries a red or blue beacon light and a multi-toned siren in violation of Central Motor Vehicles Rules, SRO 55 of 2014, and apex court rulings.
Finding a prima facie case, the court directed authorities to inspect the vehicle, verify authorization, and immediately seize any illegal fittings while initiating statutory action under the Motor Vehicles Act. The SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir must submit a detailed compliance report with photographic evidence within two weeks. Additionally, Tehsildar Tariq Ahmad Shiekh has been summoned to appear personally or through counsel on September 10, 2026, to show cause why appropriate proceedings should not be initiated against him.
