Kabaddi Glory: Sopore Clinches U-19 IZDL Trophy in Baramulla

Sopore defeats Dangerpora in a thrilling final as Badminton and Table Tennis competitions continue

Baramulla :The Inter-Zonal District Level (IZDL) Kabaddi Competition for Under-19 Boys concluded today at Indoor Stadium Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla, with Zone Sopore emerging champions after defeating Zone Dangerpora in an exciting final.

Organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Baramulla, under the supervision of Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K, Smt. Anuradha Gupta, JKAS, the competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from young sporting talent across the district.

The concluding ceremony was graced by Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori, DYSSO Baramulla, along with Shabir Ahmad Thoker, PEM/Activity In-charge. Speaking on the occasion, the officials appreciated the players, officials and escort teachers for their dedication, discipline and exemplary sporting spirit.

Mohammad Arif Lone, PEL and Overall In-charge, shared valuable insights into the competition and highlighted the department’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent at the grassroots level. Shahnawaz Sarwar, PEL/Selector, also shared his observations on the performance and potential of the participating players.

 

DYSSO Baramulla presented the winner and runner-up trophies to Zone Sopore and Zone Dangerpora, respectively, and congratulated both teams for their commendable performance.

Meanwhile, the IZDL Badminton Competition for Girls continued at Bipin Rawat Indoor Stadium, Baramulla, where the Under-17 category witnessed participation of more than 50 girls. The Table Tennis selection trials also continued at Indoor Stadium Khawaja Bagh, with 16 Under-17 girls showcasing their skills and competing for selection.

The Department continues its sustained efforts to provide young athletes with competitive platforms, professional exposure and opportunities to excel at higher levels.
