Teetwal : Nagrota MLA Devyani Rana Saturday paid her maiden visit to the Sharda Temple at Teetwal along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district and offered prayers at the newly constructed temple.

DeyaniRana performed puja at the temple, which was inaugurated in March 2023 by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

She was received by Save Sharda Committee Kashmir coordinator Ajaz Khan, manager Mahaveer Thussu and priests Kamal and Ritik Raina.

Appreciating the efforts of the Save Sharda Committee Kashmir in reclaiming and rebuilding the temple at its historic site, Rana said the initiative had helped restore an important religious and cultural heritage site. The temple was originally located at the same site before Partition during the Maharaja’s era and was damaged during the Partition-related violence.

Rana also called for reopening the historic Sharda Peeth, located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and facilitating pilgrimage to the shrine through a dedicated corridor.

She said efforts should continue towards enabling devotees to undertake the yatra to Sharda Peeth and appreciated the work being pursued by Ravinder Pandita and the Save Sharda Committee on the issue.
