Srinagar: United States Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, arrived in Leh as part of a high-profile official visit to the Union Territory of Ladakh. The Ambassador’s arrival in the frontier district followed a brief delay in Srinagar due to adverse weather conditions, shortly after he concluded a formal meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday.
Upon reaching Leh, Gor engaged in local outdoor activities along the region’s prominent waterways. Sources said the US envoy visited the iconic Zanskar–Indus river confluence at Nimmu and participated in a white-water river rafting expedition starting from Tsogti. His presence in Leh coincides with the stay of the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, in the town, though officials have not confirmed whether an official interaction between the two is scheduled during the tour.
