Srinagar: Light to moderate rainfall lashed scattered parts of Jammu and Kashmir, bringing localized relief from rising temperatures even as the Meteorological Centre forecasted generally hot and humid weather with intermittent precipitation across the Union Territory through August 27.
According to daily weather data, Katra recorded the highest precipitation at 39 mm, followed by Gulmarg with 14.2 mm over 24 hours and Pahalgam with 4.4 mm during daytime hours.
Meteorological officials said that brief, intense spells of heavy rain and thundershowers remain likely in select districts during early morning and afternoon hours. Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 29.0 degrees Celsius, while Jammu touched 29.7 degrees Celsius. Weather officials advised residents in vulnerable, low-lying, and hilly terrains to remain cautious against sudden downpours, while clarifying that agricultural operations and crop harvesting may continue subject to immediate local conditions.
