SRINAGAR, AUGUST 21: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar, today chaired a meeting of Heads of Departments (HoDs) of Agriculture and allied departments to review and finalise arrangements for the upcoming Kisan Mela and foundation stone laying ceremony of the Mandi at Wusan Bangil, Tangmarg in Baramulla district.

MLA Gulmarg, Farooq Ahmad Shah, HoDs of Agriculture, Horticulture  and concerned  officers were present in the meeting.

The Minister had detailed deliberations on preparations being put in place by different departments for the mega kisan mela.

He instructed all the concerned HoDs to ensure seamless inter-departmental coordination, meticulous planning and timely completion of all arrangements for successful conduct of the programme. He stressed that every department should contribute its best towards making the event impactful, well-organised and beneficial for the farming community.

The meeting also discussed the detailed programme schedule and participation of various Agriculture and allied departments in the event.

Javid Dar directed the departments to establish informative and professionally designed stalls showcasing their schemes, flagship programmes, achievements, innovative initiatives, modern technologies and farmer-centric interventions. He emphasised that the Kisan Mela should provide farmers with a meaningful platform to interact directly with the departmental officers, agricultural scientists, technical experts and other stakeholders. The event will help in familiarising the farmers with modern agricultural practices, government schemes and available support mechanisms.

The Minister advocated for effective dissemination of information regarding various farmer-oriented initiatives. He directed the departments to ensure that the stalls remain adequately staffed and equipped to address the queries of farmers and visitors.

Javid Dar underscored that the event should reflect the Government’s commitment towards strengthening the agricultural economy, improving market infrastructure, enhancing farmers’ income and providing better market linkages and facilities to the farming community.

He directed all the officers to personally monitor the preparations, maintain close coordination and ensure that every component of the programme is executed with professionalism and precision.

Regarding the foundation laying ceremony for the Mandi at Wusan Bangil, the Minister was informed that 50 kanals of land has been transferred to the Horticulture Planning and Marketing Department for its establishment and that the department has taken possession of the land.
