Kupwara : A food processing unit has become functional at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kupwara, aimed at strengthening value addition, technology dissemination and income-generation opportunities for the farming community in the district.
The facility is expected to provide farmers with access to modern processing technologies and support them in converting agricultural produce into value-added products, thereby improving marketability and enhancing farm incomes.
Head KVK Kupwara, Dr. Bhat, expressed gratitude to Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie and Director Extension Education Prof. Rehana Habib Kanth for their continuous support, guidance and cooperation in strengthening the functioning and outreach of KVK Kupwara. He particularly acknowledged their support in providing modern farm machinery and processing equipment, stating that the assistance has enabled the KVK to expand its services for the farming community.
Dr. Bhat said the availability of modern machinery and processing facilities would help farmers gain greater exposure to improved technologies and encourage value addition at the local level. He expressed hope that the support and cooperation from the university authorities would continue in the future, further strengthening KVK Kupwara’s efforts towards farmer welfare, technology dissemination, value addition and income enhancement. The newly functional unit is expected to serve as an important facility for demonstrations, training and capacity-building programmes for farmers and other stakeholders associated with the agriculture sector in Kupwara.
