Srinagar: A week of progress, opportunity and inspiring stories from Jammu & Kashmir.From heritage conservation and stronger connectivity to tourism, livelihoods and youth-led initiatives, here are some of the positive developments shaping J&K this week.
1. J&K Steps Up Heritage Conservation: The Jammu & Kashmir Government has approved three heritage conservation projects worth ₹18.60 crore, aimed at restoring historically and culturally important sites and strengthening heritage tourism. The initiative can give a fresh push to preservation of the region’s architectural and cultural legacy while creating new tourism opportunities.
2. Nearly 5 Lakh Artisans, Weavers Registered In J&K: Jammu & Kashmir is strengthening its handicrafts and handloom ecosystem, with nearly five lakh artisans and weavers registered. The administration is focusing on better market access, branding and promotion of traditional crafts, offering fresh possibilities for livelihoods and exports.
3. BSNL’s 4G Rollout Nears Completion: J&K is moving closer to comprehensive 4G connectivity, with 1,748 of the 1,843 planned BSNL 4G sites already commissioned. Improved connectivity can benefit students, businesses, tourism, digital services and people living in remote areas.
4. J&K’s Tourism Potential Gets Fresh Push Through Homestays: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo described the Homestay Policy as a bedrock for boosting sustainable tourism in Jammu Kashmir. The initiative has the potential to connect visitors with local communities while creating additional livelihood opportunities for families, particularly in rural and offbeat destinations
5. Rattan Garh Fort To Get ₹10 Cr Restoration Push: The historic Rattan Garh Fort in Bhaderwah is set for restoration after the government approved ₹10 crore for its repair and renovation. The project is expected to preserve an important piece of J&K’s heritage while strengthening Bhaderwah’s potential as a cultural and tourism destination.
6. Youth Take Centre Stage in Shopian: A “NashaMuktYuva for Viksit Bharat” programme was held across Shopian with enthusiastic participation from young people. The initiative focused on youth awareness, healthy lifestyles and their constructive role in building a stronger society.
