Jammu : GGM Science College in Jammu celebrated Independence Day on August 15, 2026, with a vibrant display of patriotism. The event began with the National Flag being hoisted by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, followed by the National Anthem. In his address, Prof. Gupta conveyed heartfelt greetings and honored the sacrifices of freedom fighters, emphasizing that Independence Day serves as a reminder of the commitment to unity, constitutional values, and national progress. He highlighted the pressing issue of drug abuse among youth, labeling it a significant threat to individual and societal well-being. Prof. Gupta urged students to remain vigilant and make responsible choices, advocating for awareness, counseling, and engagement in sports and cultural activities as means to combat substance abuse. He also underscored the role of educational institutions in fostering responsible citizenship and leadership qualities, encouraging students to actively participate in nation-building efforts towards a progressive India. The celebrations saw enthusiastic participation from faculty, staff, and NCC Cadets, who contributed to the event’s discipline and patriotic spirit.
