Family demands time-bound inquiry into critical diagnostic delays; hospital administration maintains silence
Srinagar : A 16-month-old child from Bandipora tragically passed away at Government Children Hospital Bemina on Friday, prompting severe allegations of medical negligence and administrative delays from the grieving family. The child was admitted with a severe throat condition, but relatives allege that critical diagnostic tests—including an Echocardiography (ECHO)—were delayed by hours despite the toddler’s rapidly deteriorating health. The family has formally requested a time-bound, impartial probe to analyze treatment logs and fix accountability, while the hospital administration failed to respond to media inquiries.
“If these investigations were advised in the morning and the facilities were available in the hospital, why were they not conducted on time? Had the tests been done on time, the doctors could perhaps have assessed the seriousness of his condition and taken necessary steps,” questioned the child’s family.
“What is the use of having such facilities if they are not made available to a critically ill patient when they are actually needed?” the relatives added.
