Srinagar :Jammu and Kashmir is bracing for light-to-moderate rain and thundershowers over the coming week, with brief, intense downpours forecast between August 13 and 15, followed by heavy rainfall across select districts from August 16 to 19.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday the Meteorological Centre warned that torrential showers could trigger flash floods, landslides, and mudslides in vulnerable regions, urging travelers and residents in hilly terrains to exercise caution. Scattered rainfall is expected to bring relief between August 20 and 22. Recent 24-hour precipitation metrics saw Pulwama record 57.5 mm, Poonch 53 mm, Awantipora 47.8 mm, and Rajouri 44 mm. Meanwhile, temperatures remain above normal across the region, with Srinagar recording a maximum of 31.7°C (1.7°C above normal) and Jammu touching 35.4°C (2.3°C above normal), while Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded cooler highs of 27.3°C and 23.2°C, respectively.
