Ganderbal : During a Grape Day organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ganderbal in collaboration with J&K Bank, grape growers in Kashmir received valuable insights from Anil G. Meher, a prominent grape expert known as the ‘Grape Man of India.’ The event aimed to enhance scientific grape cultivation, improve orchard management, and strengthen connections between farmers and scientists.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth, Director Extension at SKUAST-Kashmir, emphasized the significance of farmer-scientist interactions in overcoming agricultural challenges and adopting advanced technologies. She encouraged farmers to utilize scientific practices to boost productivity and profitability, assuring them of ongoing technical support from the university. Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Malik, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Ganderbal, highlighted the role of KVKs in delivering tailored technical guidance and addressing local agricultural issues through regular engagement with growers. Prof. Aroosa Khalil from SKUAST-Kashmir provided technical insights on grape cultivation and management, addressing farmers’ queries to enhance yield and quality. Ms. Ifrah Yaqoob, Manager at J&K Bank, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting farmers with necessary financial assistance.
