Srinagar: The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a severe weather advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall, particularly across the Jammu division, on Tuesday, August 11.
Forecasters warn that intense, short-duration spells could trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and urban waterlogging in low-lying areas. Unsettled weather conditions marked by light to moderate rain are expected to persist through August 19. The advisory follows a warm 24-hour period where Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2°C (3.2 degrees above normal) and Jammu settled at 34.6°C, while popular destinations Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded highs of 27.2°C and 22.8°C, respectively. Disaster management authorities have urged residents and local administration in vulnerable zones to remain on high alert.
